So you’ve decided that you want to make a change: get healthy/fit, get a new job/start a
business, change your look, but you don’t know how or where to start. Don’t panic!
It’s a very simple process. Yeah,
I said it! It IS a very simple
process. You decide what it is you want
to do and then operate as if you are there already.
What does that mean, you say?
I realized that a lot of the foods I had been eating were
infused with MANY chemicals and I wanted to take control of what I was
ingesting in my body. I made the
decision on a Friday that Monday would be the day that I would go to a more plant-based
diet that included foods that have very little ingredients in them
(preservatives are virtually in everything that comes in a box or a bottle to
keep the color).
So where did I start?
My mind. The mind is the thing that will make or break
change. You can convince yourself in a
positive, negative or even indifferent manner.
If you don’t focus your attention on what your brain is telling you,
change will NEVER happen. I began self-talk
that said basically “I’m taking control of what goes into my body”, “I’m going
to go to a plant-based diet on Monday”, and “I’m going to find great
alternatives that I will replace the less than healthy food I had been eating”.
What did I do next? Start researching. I look regularly on the internet, cook books
that I already have and go to health food stores and checking out food
options. By the time Monday rolled
around, I was ready to begin my diet changes and I haven’t looked back!
What issue might crop up?
Fighting the temptation to
revert. I hadn’t eaten in over 5
hours and realized I needed to eat something.
I was in my car and briefly thought about going to a fast food joint and
picking up something that wouldn’t completely ruin my current way of
eating. Instead, I found myself going to
a vegan carryout that was near me.
EVERYTHING is made by hand, that day, FRESH. Backslide averted! You must pay attention to what’s going on
with you so that you can make the right decision to keep yourself on
track. Self-study and discovery are so
very important; don’t ignore YOU.
The change has been cemented, now what? Be
your own designer. Now that I’ve
been at it for about a month, I find that I can go to the refrigerator or freezer
and come up with something to eat. I don’t
always need a recipe and I now trust myself to develop meals and drinks that I
enjoy and know that it’s healthy for me.
It’s rewarding to see change that you envisioned come to
pass. God has created us to continually
evolve, learn and grow. !! God believes in you. That should settle the question of whether
you can do it…He said you can!! We
should never be stagnant—that just isn’t the Awesome Christian way. Be your best Awesome Christian self!!
Onward!
